Pilates after Baby Loss classes at the Alder Centre

The PABL Project has partnered with the Alder Centre in Liverpool to provide physio-led Pilates after Baby Loss classes for those who have experienced stillbirth or early infant loss. Join us to focus on postpartum recovery and rehab with valuable peer support in a safe and supportive space.

Classes run in six week blocks and include:

  • Pelvic floor reconnection and strengthening
  • Breathing and posture
  • Restoring core strength and optimising physical recovery
  • Education and attention to postnatal issues such as C-Section scar massage, separated abdominal muscles and bladder and bowel function
  • Workshop on return to running and impact activities
  • Supporting mental wellbeing

Classes are small, with a maximum of 4-6 participants, and are followed by optional refreshments so there is plenty of opportunity for peer support. In addition, there are Alder Centre staff available throughout to provide emotional support if needed.

The Alder Centre is the UK's first and only purpose-built dedicated child bereavement centre and it is right here in Liverpool. There will to the opportunity to find out about other services run by the centre during the classes.

The classes are free and are open to any mum who has lost their baby from stillbirth up to 12 months postnatally. If you are outside these criteria but feel that you would benefit then please still ring for a chat. For your own safety and wellbeing to attend the classes you must be:

  • 6+ weeks post vaginal delivery
  • 10+ weeks post C-Section delivery
  • Have had your 6-8 week GP check

There are six blocks of classes run per year. For the dates of the next block please contact the Alder Centre directly.
